The game of golf has been played in Scotland since the 15th century and the history of the game has its roots in the links of St Andrews, Musselburgh and Prestwick. In fact, the Scots exported the game to the USA in the late 19th century and named their first club the St Andrews Club near New York. Let us introduce you to the birthplace of the game..

The concentration of world class golf in our country is impressive. Start on the south west coast with courses such as Turnberry Ailsa, Troon and Dundonald not to overlook lesser known tracks such as Rowallan Castle, Barassie or the St Nicholas Links course at Prestwick. Head north and you will come to Loch Lomond, Crieff and Gleneagles. Cross over to Fife for a game at the much aclaimed new Dumbarnie Links, Kingsbarns or choose from one of the 7 courses in the Auld Grey Toon of St Andrews.
Follow the North Sea coastal route to Carnoustie Country and Royal Deeside, stop for a game at Royal Aberdeen or Murcar. Onto the Highlands to sample more links golf at Royal Dornock, Brora and Morie. Then back to Edinburgh, the nation’s capital and sweep east along the Golf Coast for North Berwick, Dunbar, Gullane and Muirfield.
